Lot 2098

Great Britain. Sixpence, 1858. Victoria Young Head. S-3908; KM-733.1. While Dr Terner focused on Proof samples of the copper and silver coinages, as study pieces, sometimes he found a currency piece so stunning that he couldn't resist owning it, such as this marvelous coin. Superb Gem Uncirculated, splendid bright golden greenish blue iridescence. A curious diebreak appears at the rim about 3 o'clock obverse and reappears at the opposite rim, "disappearing" beneath the queen's portrait. The eye-appeal of this coin is extraordinary. PCGS graded MS-66.
Estimated Value $700 - 850.
