Holbein, Hans. Anna Boleyn. Delicately handcolored mezzotint portrait of Anne Boleyn, c. late 18th or early 19th century, entitled "Anna Boleyn." Plate imprint states, "From an Original Picture by Hans Holbein in the Possession of M. Wooher at Basle." Print size is 12¼ x 9 in. Beautifully mounted in an original, antique gilt frame, 22½ x 16¼ in. A lovely portrait by Holbein, who was court painter to Henry VIII. Anne Boleyn, Henry VIII's second wife and mother of Elizabeth I, was charged with adultery, convicted and beheaded in 1536. A very fine and scarce image.
