Sloane, William Milligan & Kennedy, General Sir James Shaw. Life of Napoleon Bonaparte (and) Notes on the Battle of Waterloo. Life of Napoleon Bonaparte consists of 4 volumes (New York: The Century Co., 1901), originally published in 1894, total of 1149 pp. Burgundy buchram covers with gilt lettering on spine and Napoleon's coat of arms on covers. Numerous plates illustrating people and events in Napoleon's life. Covers are bumped and rubbed, with some loosening at spines; however, interiors are clean and in fine condition. Each volume has the bookplate of a former owner.

Together with Notes on the Battle of Waterloo by General Sir James Shaw Kennedy (London: John Murray, Albemarle Street, 1865), 199 pp Green buchram with darker green leather spine and corners; gilt title against burgundy background, and marbled end pages. Covers are bumped and rubbed; interior is tight and clean. Fold-out map of the battle has a fold split and edge tear. The author was at Waterloo with Wellington, "Acting at the Time of The Battle on the Quartermaster-General's Staff of the Third Division of the Army," and played an important role in the battle. His "Autobiographical Memoir" is also in this volume.
