Gouverneur Morris was a delegate to the first Provincial Congress in 1775 and attracted attention by his report and speech on the mode of issuing a paper currency by the Continental Congress. He was also a delegate to the Constitutional Convention and served in the U.S. Senate from 1800-1803.
