Corrigan, Douglas "Wrong Way" (1907-95) Aviator noted for his flight from New York to Ireland on July 17, 1938, after being refused permission to fly across the Atlantic by the Civil Aviation Authority. Corrigan claimed that his compass was faulty and became a national hero for thumbing his nose at authority. Photograph Signed and dated, "Douglas Corrigan 11-3-38," no place, 8¾ x 7 inches.
