Mucha, Alfons (1860-1939) Czech artist; designed the first three postage stamps of Czechoslovakia, which obtained its independence in 1918 after the break-up of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Card Signed between three of the original postage stamps designed by Mucha, with printed date of December 18, 1918, 6 x 8 in. open. At left is an engraving of a self-portrait of Mucha. With four oversize, mint, unused Czechoslovakian stamps issued in 1969 commemorating Mucha's birth, showing engraved color examples of his art. Extremely fine.
