Napoleon I. Document Signed ("Np") as Emperor of France, King of Italy, etc., St. Cloud, June 14, 1811, 1 pg. folio. Two articles: one promoting the battalion chief to colonel, and the second charging the Minister of War of Italy to execute the appointment. Light toning and normal folds. The paper has a wonderful watermark of an eagle wearing a crown, and the signature is quite large. Fine. After crowning himself emperor in 1804, Napoleon began to sign as "Napoleon" instead of "Bonaparte." He normally signed "Np" or "Nap" and, less commonly "Napol."
Estimated Value $900 - 1,200.

Realized $776
