Mayors. A collection of fifteen mayors, twelve of them from New York City. They include: Fernando Wood (1855-58 and 1860-62), signature and title; Abram S. Hewitt (1887-88), signature; William L. Strong ((1895-97), 2 typed letters signed on official letterhead, 4½ pp. one to Gov. Levi Morton; Seth Low (1902-03), typed letter signed as president of Columbia University; William J. Gaynor ((1910-13), 1 signature, 1 typed letter signed; Fiorello La Guardia (1934-45), signed official mayor's card with embossed seal; William O'Dwyer (1946-50), signed mayor's card; John V. Lindsay (1966-73), 1 typed letter signed and 1signed card for City Club awards ceremony;and Edward I. Koch (1978-89), typed letter signed re making the city a better place. The other three mayors are: Chicago mayor Anton J. Cermak (1932-33, assassinated as he stood beside President Franklin D. Roosevelt in Miami), signature with closing and title cut from a letter; Jersey City, New Jersey mayor Frank Hague (1917-47), signature on cut official letterhead; and San Antonio, Texas mayor Henry G. Cisneros (1981-89), typed letter signed on official letterhead. Sizes vary and conditions range from Very Good to Extremely Fine. (15 items).
