Septimius Severus, 193-211 AD. AE 26 mm. of Callatis, Moesia Inferior. Laureate head right. Reverse: Dionysus, holding thyrsus, riding lion right. Pick no. 252, pl. II, 14. Bold, sharp strike. Flan centering pit like those seen on Ptolemaic AE's on obverse, at Severus' jaw. Deep brown patina with slight deep green mottling. Also, an AE 19 mm. of Caracalla, Pautalia, Thrace; Youthful laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Bull right; BMC --; SNG Cop. --. Attractive, well struck, with handsome dark green-black patina. Lot of 2 coins. Severus Extremely Fine; Caracalla Choice Very Fine. Estimated Value $175 - 275
