Lot 3758

Caligula, 37-41 AD. AE Sestertius, Rome? struck 39-40 AD. Laureate head of Caligula left. Reverse: Caligula on platform left, haranguing five soldiers in armor and holding standards; ADLOCVT COH. With black and green patina. The reverse in an interesting style, which looks more like the work of a provincial mint, rather than that of Rome. As such, this type may in fact be rarer than a Rome issue. Near Extremely Fine. Estimated Value $2,500 - 3,500

Realized $2,300
