Fr-16a. 1862, $1 United States Note. Not only a lovely note, but this is the highest graded example of the Friedberg-16a variety. Cut slightly askew, making the bottom margin tight, but correspondingly the top margin includes a full margin and even a small bit of the note from above. A wonderful rarity in top-notch condition. Tremendously underrated compared to similar rarities in the coin side of numismatics. The vignette on this note features Secretary of the Treasury, Salmon P. Chase, who is famous in numismatic circles for having placed the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" on Two Cents coins in 1864. CGA graded Choice Uncirculated 63. Estimated Value $3,000 - 3,500

Realized $3,220
