1878-CC. NGC graded AU-50. A delightful example of this rare, low mintage issue, with coppery-orange toning on both sides. With a mintage of only 1,762 coins, this date is expected to be rare and it certainly is that. Most survivors are worn and heavily circulated, thus AU examples are very rare. Mint State examples are almost impossible to find; in fact, the only Mint State example of which we are aware is the MS-63 listed in NGC's Census Report. NGC has graded only this AU-50, 2 in AU-53, 4 in AU-55, 3 in AU-58 and the above-mentioned MS-63. They don't get any tougher than this! Estimated Value $12,000 - 14,000
