Lot 2561

1862. PCGS graded MS-64. A beautiful example of the date, covered in natural lilac, orange-gold, and sea-green pastels. Mintages of most coins dropped off during the Civil War -- in 1862, only 11,540 Silver Dollars were struck, representing one of the lowest mintages of the entire series. That Mint State 1862 Silver Dollars exist at all is remarkable and can only be attributed to the prescience of a few far-sighted collectors. Today, PCGS reports only 14 examples in this grade, plus 2 finer (both in MS-65). We'd put this beauty up against any of them! (PCGS # 6952) Estimated Value $9,000 - 10,000

Realized $9,200
