Lot 1959

1942. 2 over 1. PCGS graded MS-66. A blazing, pure white Gem example of this rare and desirable overdate variety. The "almost there" in our title refers to the center bands on the reverse, which are as close to being Fully Split as bands can be (oh,what just a little more separation would do to the price of this coin)! Nevertheless, we must not lose sight of the importance of this piece. It is the only MS-66 example certified by PCGS and none have been graded finer. Even in MS-66 FB, PCGS reports only 6 examples, with none finer. Considering that a 1919-D Dime recently sold for $212,500 at auction, we wonder what this example is now worth (PCGS # 5037) Estimated Value $13,000 - 15,000
