Lot 1164

Unusual Third Print and Major Misalignment Overprint Errors. Our first note in this lot appears to be a fold over error, but we cannot locate any folds and thus find it hard to categorize the error. The most obvious error is the Federal Reserve Seal and part of a serial number and a whole serial number missing. This we believe is from another sheet blocking the overprinting process. This sheet would be fed in slightly sideways; thus the Treasury Seal and part of the serial number were applied to the note. Now to the back of the note. There is part of a serial number near the middle of the note, top, which would line up as being the right positional serial number for one note and the Federal Reserve Seal is located in the correct area for the next note on the bottom. Therefore, the sheet would have been fed almost sideways with the face down. A very rare and unusual error. Extra Fine; Fr-2074-A. 1981-A, $20 Federal Reserve Note, major misaligned overprint with half of the Federal Reserve Bank Seal into Jackson's portrait. Very Fine. Lot of 2 notes. Estimated Value $250 - 350

Realized $242
