(Louis XVI). Three items: a 2½ in. diameter monochrome painting on ivory in a 4¾ in. square period frame, c.1785, of Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, and their first child, Marie Therese Charlotte, who was the only member of the family to survive the French Revolution; a February 27, 1793 issue of the Gazette of the United States, Philadelphia, with page 2 reports on the trial of Louis XVI (he was guillotined on January 21, 1793); and an Autograph Letter Signed ("Marie Therese"), n.p., n.d., one page folio, to the Comtesse D'artois, asking for concessions from the king. All Fine. (3 items).
