Ancient Rome. Lot of Three Bronze Coins, c. 140-222 AD. Pius scarce. Earliest, a Dupondius of Antoninus Pius, with Aurelius as Caesar, c. 140-144 AD.: Radiate head of Pius right / Bare-headed, draped bust of Aurelius right (RIC 1221a). Also two provincial AE 26's from Markianopolis. Macrinus and Diadumenium, confronted cuirassed busts / Nemesis left, wheel at feet (BMC p. 32, 33 var.). Also, Elagabalus and Julia Maesa, confronted busts / Concordia left, with patera and cornucopia (BMC p. 96, 62). Pius with dark orichalcum patina and fine portraits. Fields smoothed, deeply so in spots on reverse. Macrinus with nice portraits and pleasing green patina. Last with choice dark emerald green patina on obverse, dark green on back. Coins average Very Fine.
