1916-D Liberty Walking Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-65. Deep, colorful toning on both sides, reminiscent of the "mint set" toning seen on later, government issued Mint Sets. Such conditions did not exist when this coin was issued, thus the chances of acquiring such beautiful toning were low, indeed. Gem examples of this date are the exception -- the most common Mint State grades are MS-63 to MS-64.
