Lot 1076

1868 Indian Head Cent. NGC graded Proof 65 Red & Brown. Medium mirrors with a few light contact marks. About 15% of the 1868 proofs have the rotated reverse such as seen on the present example. Rick Snow says in his "Flying Eagle and Indian Cent Attribution Guide, Vol. 2 1859-1869" that these rotated die pieces are struck with the same reverse die as used in 1869 in a slightly later die state. He assumes that this means that the pieces with this rotation were struck in 1869 or 1870.
Estimated Value $800 - 900.

Realized $719
