George II of Greece (1890-1947) First came to the throne in 1922 after the second deposition of his father, Constantine I. He was himself driven out in 1924, but was restored in 1935 after a plebiscite. When Greece was overrun by the Germans, he withdrew to Crete, then to Egypt and Britain. He re-ascended the throne in 1946 but died a year later.

Vintage Photograph Signed, 9 x 8", sepia tone. Athens, 1938. A regal, full-face bust portrait of the King in his military uniform. Signature is on the border below the photo. Cropped and set within a handsome brown velvet matte to an overall size of 17 x 17". Fine.
