Truman, Harry S. The four items are framed with incidental photographs and postcards of Truman's life and administration, with a bronze Presidential medallion, and biography of the President. Overall size is 36 x 39." 33rd President of the United States,1945-1953.

Typed Letter Signed as President,Typed Letter Signed, and Inscribed Photograph Signed. Framed collection of four Truman items, including a Bess Truman ALS:

A. Typed Letter Signed as President. One page, Octavo, on pale green White House letterhead, August 9, 1948. To Daniel Poling, President and Editor of the "Christian Herald Magazine." Truman writes, in full: "Dear Doctor Poling: I appreciated your note of the fifth and I understood your situation on Tuesday. The report and suggested use of the Commission with a few additional names to help implement a program as suggested is a good one. Sincerely yours, Harry Truman." President Truman was endeavoring to set up a Commission comprised of religious leaders of the three major faiths to look into questions of morality and welfare in the Military. This Commission was to become the Presidents Comission On Religion and Welfare in the Armed Services. There is a faint vertical bar of age-toning on the right edge of the page, otherwise Fine.

B. Typed Letter Signed with Autograph Postscript. One page, Quarto, on personal letterhead, Independence, Missouri, February 10, 1960. Witty letter to Paul Nachtman declining an invitation to attend a dinner for the Mayor of New York. Truman writes, in full: "Dear Paul: Replying to your letter of February 2, it is not possible for me to make an engagement now to attend the dinner for the Mayor of New York. Later on you might get in touch with me after I have had a little vacation. I will see then what I can do. Sincerely yours, Harry Truman." Truman adds in an autograph postscript : "Those terrific friends of mine in Washington succeeded in breaking a rib for me and its been hurting ever since. So you see they can kill you with kindness as well as a club! But it was worth it." Fine condition.

C. Inscribed Photograph Signed. Handsome B&W 8x10 headshot of a square-jawed Truman, inscribed, "To J. Dale Stonecipher Kind regards from Harry Truman 4 - 29 - 65." Fine condition.

D. Bess Truman Autograph Letter Signed. Two pages, Octavo, on White House letterhead, Washington, n.d., to Mr. and Mrs Quinnoth [?] thanking them for an Easter basket. Also Fine.
