Truman was the Captain of Battery D, 129th Field Artillery, 35th Division, in World War I, where he served with distinction, and had his first opportunity to exercise the leadership qualities that would propel him to the nation's highest office. Very Fine condition.

B. Typed Letter Signed as President. One page, Octavo, The White house letterhead, Washington, November 28, 1952. To General Omar Bradley, Chaiman, Joint Chiefs of Staff. A revealing letter which touches on the President's close relationship with the Armed Services. Truman writes, in full: "Dear General Bradley: I have just received a copy of the last two paragraphs of your remarks at the National War College, in which you refer to the President and to the Secretary of Defense. I can't tell you how very much I appreciated what you had to say about your relationaship with the Commander-in-Chief. That situation has been a mutual one and I have enjoyed the association with you and all the Joint Chiefs of Staff very, very much. Sincerely yours, Harry Truman." A personal letter dealing with the military association which was so important to the President. Except for a faint diamond outline where the letter has escaped age-tone, and almost looks like a printed design, the letter is Fine.

C. Typed Letter Signed. One page, Octavo, on personal letterhead, Independence, Missouri, January 23, 1958. Wonderful letter to Hon.Dwight R.G. Palmer remarking on the recent honor Truman has just received from the Democratic National Committee, which has inaugurated a memorial dinner in his name. Truman writes, in full: "Dear Dwight: The Democratic National Committee may have gone haywire. It has changed the name of the Jefferson-Jackson Dinner in Washington on February 22nd to the Truman Dinner. I hope you can come, not only because I would enjoy a good visit with you there, but also because your presence at the dinner would dispel my apprehension about the renaming of the event. Your Governor seems to be making a great name for himself, and I could not be more pleased. Every good wish. Sincerely yours, Harry Truman." Very faint stain upper left, not affecting text, otherwise Fine condition.
