Roosevelt, Eleanor. Accompanying this admonishing letter is a copy of the mentioned New York Herald Tribune article of July 20, 1943.
Matted along with a fine B & W photo of Eleanor in a formal evening dress, all in a rich burl and gilt lined frame. Overall size of 16 x 21". (1882-1962) First Lady - wife of Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd President of the United States. American statesman and humanitarian. Niece of 26th U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt; delegate to the United Nations (1945, 1949-52, 1961), chairman of the U.N. Human Rights Commission (1946-51).

Typed Letter Signed As First Lady. On gold imprinted White House stationery, one page, quarto, Washington DC, July 24, 1943 to noted columnist Walter Winchell.

"Because in the past you have checked with me about rumors, I though you would not mind my telling you that your statement that my daughter was in Nevada with me to get a divorce was without foundation in fact. Anna was not in Nevada at all - she has been plugging away in Seattle with her many responsibilities…"
