Roosevelt, Theodore. A political letter written near the end of Roosevelt's third and last term in the New York State Assembly, where the twenty-five year old legislator attracted favorable public attention for his independent views. 26th President of the United States, 1901-1909.

Autograph Letter Signed. One page, Octavo, on ornate State of New York Assembly Chamber letterhead, Albany, Jan. 28, 1884, to a Mr. Lanigan. Roosevelt writes in response to some suggestions which concerned the state government:

"Many thanks for your kind letter; your suggestions as to the field offices are undoubtedly just; I will do what I can to have them adopted. I hardly yet know what to say about your proposition for a commission; if adopted I shall certainly do all I can to have you one of the members. Very truly yours - Theodore Roosevelt."
