English Encyclopedic Astronomy text. Early nineteenth century. Eighteen pages, quarto. Printed for Richard Phillips, in London. Three pages of illustrations and fifteen of text detail the scope of astronomical knowledge 200 years ago. The drawings portray the Solar System, various eclipses, motions of the planets, the seasons, and tides. Text tables are scattered throughout the entry, the most notable lists the constellations with the number of stars observed in each one by astronmers Ptolemy, Tycho Brahe, Hevelius and Flamsteed.
Dampstaining and foxing scattered throughout; one illustration (Solar System) is water stained at the top left corner. Generally good to very good condition.
