Dopplemeyer The Northern sky 1730. 1742. Nürnburg. 23¼ x 19¾".
"18" at top right. Bottom left corner replaced at margin; skillful paper repairs at right and top margins; trimmed almost to plate; pencil ID verso. Beautiful contemporary color. Very good to excellent condition.
Published with Homann. A beautiful rendering of the northern sky with four observatories featured: Tychonicum (Tycho Brahe's observatory at Hven, founded 1576), Hevelianum (Hevelius' observatory at Danzig, 1650), Paerisiense (Paris, 1667) and Noribergense (Eimmart's observatory at Nuremberg, 1678). Incredible detail and absolutely perfect color.
