Hamid-Morton Circus. [said to be 1940], 42 x 28 in. Photo offset. Erie Litho & Ptg. Co., Erie, PA. Featuring "Clyde Beatty Greatest Wild Animal Trainer Of All Time - In A Single-Handed Combat With 40 Man-Eating Lions and Royal Bengal Tigers." Condition: A. Clyde Beatty used this same image in 1935 to advertise for his own circus. George A. Hamid, Sr. was born in Lebanon in 1896. He joined Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show as a tumbler at the age of nine and learned English from sharpshooter Annie Oakley. In 1920, he began to book acts and developed the world's largest agency for circus and outdoor talent. In 1932, he founded Hamid-Morton Circus with circus producer Bob Morton. The circus is operated today as Hamid Circus Royale by Hamid's grandson and great-grandson.
