Complete Set of 12 of the 1939 New York World's Fair Spoons. United States, 1939. Issued in silverplate by William Rogers, the stepped and angular handles show the Trylon and Perisphere while each bowl features a different exhibit or building. The buildings included are: Administration, Aviation, Textile, Georgian Section in Court of the United States, Consumer Interests, Hall of Medicine and Public Health, New York State Amphitheatre, Railroad Transportation, Food Exhibition, United States Government, Marine Transportation, and New York City Exhibit Hall. Spoons in original box of issue, and are mostly pristine, with dark, iridescent toning. Length: 6-1/16". Rare in this condition, especially with the box. Most amazing is that back then the postage for the nearly one pound pack of spoons was a penny and a half!!!
