Lot 1239

U.S World's Fair Odds 'n' Ends. All kinds of stuff! A "Columbus Landing" dish in cast metal, bronze or bronze plate, the dish shell-shaped, with the standard version of Columbus claiming the New World for Spain. Also a more elaborate stamped dish, in silver plate, with central bust of the famed Explorer, plus, in three divisions, views of the Machinery, Administration, and Mining Buildings. Also, two nickel-plated brass match cases, one from the Columbian Exposition, the other the St. Louis Fair. Both with all the usual trappings of souvenir memorabilia. Another rmatchbox holder, Chinese, in blue and white cloisonneé, with central medallion, in "New Jade," of a leaf. Perhaps datable to the 1930's. A small, or little girl's hand mirror souvenir from the St. Louis Fair, gold-toned copper, with raised Art Nouveau ornament on the back and handle. Another item from the St. Louis Fair, a small cast sculpture of a recalcitrant donkey, sitting with head down, and the legend, "Show me, I'm from Missouri. World's Fair, St. Louis, 1904." Lastly, a group of eight rolled out Lincoln cents, from 1968, with various subjects. Most of the metal objects show a good deal of use. The donkey repaired at the ears. Worth a look, some fun stuff here. Lot of 15 pieces.
Estimated Value $175 - 225.
