Lot 1237

World's Columbian Exposition, Chicago, 1893. You Too Can Play with a Full Deck! A set of the Official Columbian Souvenir Playing Cards, by G.W. Clark. The back with traditional scene of Columbus' landing, within a border of ornate arabesques, all in dark blue on white. The suite faces spell out the number and type, plus the corners show a miniature of the traditional suite, plus each card has at the center a different vignette of the Fair's architectural attractions. Set of 52 cards, plus one joker and one blank-faced card. Complete with original box. Box tattered, with some losses, but the cards lightly, if ever, handled and are crisp and clean, the colors remaining bright. Rarely seen this nice, don't let this one shuffle by you.

Cf. Rossen & Kaduck, p. 98, nos. 10-12.
Estimated Value $125 - 175.
