Columbian World's Fair, Chicago, 1892-1893. Columbus Declaring the New World for Spain, Six Medals. Three ambitiously patriotic examples, of differing sizes but all using the same art, commemorate Columbus and George Washington, and the Pilgrim's landing, plus the signing of the Declaration of Independence! Plus three more with similar scenes of Columbus on New World turf. Two are in aluminum, one brass, rest in various metals. All but smallest, generally pristine. Diameters: 28 mm.-58 mm. Lot of 6. Cf. Rossen & Kaduck, p. 22, no. 8, for first three.
