Lot 1212

Columbian World's Fair, Chicago, 1892-1893. Another large and handsome Columbus medal. While not actually a memento of the Fair, this medal is directly related to the superb medal preceding. The reverse, now different, shows Saint George contending with the dragon. Dated 1922, the Latin legend seems to express the hope that the earth and mankind can normalize after the apocalyptic "Great War." Diameter: 4". Beautifully preserved, with soft matte patina to the gilding.
Estimated Value $100 - 200.

Realized $150
