Lot 1204

Collector's Spoons. An Interesting Little Group of Spoons Showing Various Monuments. Lot of teaspoon and demitasse-sized pieces. Most in 800 silver, with half being gilt, most with enameling to handles, and all having enameled designs to the bowls. The designs seem to be either transfer prints or hand painting, or a mixture of both. One with a medieval looking belfry-like structure in Edinburgh, a nice view of the Brandenburg Gate along with the handle being finely enameled, a colorful rendering a Vienna's famed Ferris Wheel, equestrian statues of the mighty in Berlin and Geneva, statues of Beethoven and Christopher Columbus, the "goose man" fountain at Nuremburg, the famed mineral water fountain at Karlsbad, war monuments and more. More than half of the spoons seem to be turn of the century to pre-WWII, with two or three fairly recent. They show slight to moderate use. Lot of 11. A fascinating assortment.

Estimated Value $200 - 300.
