Lot 1199

Collector's Spoons. A Group of Twelve Colorful Italian Spoons. Lot of teaspoon and demitasse-sized pieces. Most in 800 silver, with many being gilt, some with enameling to handles, and all having enameled designs to the bowls. The designs seem to be either transfer prints or hand painting, or a mixture of both. Notable spoons include one of Venice, with scallop-shell bowl having a brilliantly colored view of St. Mark's, surrounded by orange-red border. Two, spoons from Naples and Lake Como, with fine waterside views that appear to be hand painted. The spoon from Florence with delicately-hued scene of the Ponte Vecchio; the handle shaped as a violet-colored iris. The remaining pieces with similar intricately shaped handles and vivid bowls, range from: Naples, Florence, Bellagio, Rome, Torino, and Venice. Spoons mostly early 20th century, and show slight to modest use. For the collector, an instant collection of fine, older pieces. Lot of 12.

Estimated Value $200 - 300.
