Edward VIII As Prince of Wales. Gray silk portrait of Edward, "H.R.H. Prince of Wales," as a staff officer during World War I, 12 x 20", designed by Fritz Kaeser and printed by Oberland Silk Mfg. Co. Ltd, Zurich. The crest and motto, "Ich Dien [I serve]" is at upper left. Edward ascended to the throne in January 1936 and abdicated in December to marry Wallis Simpson; he was thereafter created Duke of Windsor by George VI. Some brown staining at right edge and along the bottom, touching the title but not affecting the image. Good to very good.
