Presidential Memorial Plate, "Our Martyrs." United States, c. 1901. Colorful memorial plate initiated by the assassination of President William McKinley in September of 1901. Central circular medallion with portraits of Lincoln and Garfield over that of McKinley, with flanking flags, and on a leaf green ground. Each portrait with inscribed name, while towards the base of the medallion, "Our Martyrs." Plate edged in a border resembling a vibrant viridian green. Plate in choice condition, with usual light craquelure, one tiny nick to the rim, and a 1/4" flake (well away from the colored areas) expertly filled. Diameter: 10-1/8".
