Lot 1180

1860 but struck later. Youthful portrait of Hon. Abraham Lincoln, reverse the famous "rail splitter" scene. Lincoln takes careful aim with his large sledge hammer as his assistant looks up hopefully while holding the splitter, with a small log cabin in the background across the open field. The scene is surrounded by the motto THE RAIL SPLITTER OF THE WEST. This appears to be a brass medal which has been lightly silvered. Probably struck around 50 to 100 years ago, dies by Ellis. Very Fine.
Estimated Value $25 - 35.

Realized $138
