Lot 1077

Judaica. A Hazorfim Candy Bowl in .800 Silver. Israel, c. 1950's. Open work basket or bowl, with fence-like slats supporting four elaborate shields or cartouches, all connected or framed by floral swags. Bowl's center with a street view of old Jerusalem, perhaps Temple Mount, modeled in relief. Above, in Hebrew, "Jerusalem." The dish shows modest but loving use. Marked with three stamps: a semi-circle with 31(?); a rectangle with 800; and lastly, the firm's name. Width: 6-1/2".

The silverware products of Beit Hazorfim have been noted for their originality and quality, since 1952. They are one of Israel's largest manufacturing studios of traditional, contempory, and religious silverware. Their earliest wares remain difficult to find.
Estimated Value $100 - 200.

Realized $69
