Lot 2222

An original bundle of 100 sequential $100 Confederate notes, F-CS-34, Criswell-494, series II, A. Here is a very unusual lot of 100 sequential notes from this popular February 17, 1864 issue. The notes range from serial number 33901 to 34000, and all are signed with original signatures. The small bundle is held together with a tattered paper wrapper which notes the $10,000 amount in pencil, and bound by a small straight pin. The notes are all uncirculated, but the top and bottom notes show quite a bit of handling from the past 139 years! At the center of the note the vignette is of Lucy Holcombe Pickens facing right, on the lower left are two Confederate soldiers and George Wythe Randolph resides on the lower right. These notes are very popular with collectors, and we have never seen another full bundle of 100 sequential notes. Certainly an exciting opportunity for the specialist or dealer. While the bundle shows handling, most of the notes are bright and well preserved, and have a nice aged smell. Lot of 100 notes. Choice Uncirculated save for the top and bottom notes.
Estimated Value $5,000-UP.

Realized $8,510
