Lot 2144
$20 Liberty. 1853. Sharpness of AU-50 but there are several scratches on the obverse. The obverse has several scratches on the face and in the left field which are visible to the unaided eye. This is too bad, as the coin is quite nice otherwise, with mint fresh luster and a good strike. The 1 in the date is slightly recut at the base. Perfect to display reverse side up in a case or album.
Estimated Value $450 - 500.
From the Benson collection and purchased from Ira S. Reed's auction of April 15, 1944 for $56.00 as "uncirculated".
