$5 Liberty. 1843-C. NGC graded AU-53. Nicely struck in orangish color gold with traces of mint luster still adhering about the devices. We note some scattered light handling marks commensurate for this numerical grade. All Charlotte gold is rare in high grade, this example is no exception. The NGC census shows 9 in this grade with 26 higher.
