Roman Imperial Coinage. Lot of Six Billon and Bronze Coins, c. 60-272 AD. Very good beginner's material; worth a look. Lot includes two Billon Alexandrian Tetradrachms of Nero: Of 66/67 AD., Radiate head left / Ship under sail (Sear II 2009); of 65/66 AD., Radiate head right / Head of elephant skin-draped Alexandria right (Sear II 2004). Domitian, AE Quadrans, c. 83 AD.: Rhinoceros walking right / SC, inscription around (RIC 434). Caracalla, AE 27 of Alabanda, Caria: Cuirassed bust with shield / Lyre (BMC p. 7, 43). Valerian, AE 33 of Lyrbe, Cilicia: Laureate, draped, cuirassed bust right / Apollo, draped, holding patera and scepter (SNG Cop. 163 var.). Last, an AE Antoninianus of Aurelian & Valabathus, 271-272 AD., with portrait of each (RIC 381). Coins with generally good surfaces, and various tones or patinas. Valerian sharp, but dark green patina rough. Lot of 6 coins. Coins average Very Fine, one or two plus or minus.
