Ancient Rome. Lot of Two Scarcer AR Denarii, c. 43 BC. - 38 AD. Presentable and affordable hole fillers, or good beginner's pieces. Both are rare. Firstly a Denarius of Mark Antony & Julius Caesar, Cisalpine Gaul, struck 43 BC.: Bare head of Antony right / Wreathed head of Caesar right; Craw. 488/1; BMCRR 53. Also a clipped Denarius (2.73 g) of Caligula & Germanicus, struck 37-38 AD.: Laureate head of Caligula right / Bare head of Germanicus right; RIC 18; RSC 2. Antony with usual mis-centerings, but not bad, with portraits wholly on flan. R-shaped banker's mark in field, before Caesar's neck. Caligula metal slightly grainy, with a few light ancient scrapes; deeply toned. Lot of 2. Antony Fine, Caligula a bit better.
