Caligula, 37-41 AD. AE Sestertius, Rome, struck 40-41 AD. Pietas, veiled and draped, seated left, holding patera, elbow resting on small facing statue behind. Reverse: Caligula sacrifing before hexastyle temple; attendant at left leading bull to altar, attendant behind, holding patera. RIC 51; BMCRE 69. Slight smoothing to obverse fields; pleasing green and brown patina. Crisp strike, finely centered on very round flan. Very Fine.
