Ancient Greece. Lot of Twenty-four Bronze Coins, c. 440-50 BC. Highlights include two bronzes from Syracuse, Sicily: c. 440-425 BC., AE Trias: Arethusa right, dolphins around / Cuttlefish (SGC 1184 var.); and AE 18, 357-344 BC., Female head left / Dolphin right, scallop below (SGC 1187). Also, with nice green patina, Thrace, Maroneia, AE 15: Horse right / Vine within square (BMC 65); plus Lesbos, Mytilene,440-400 BC., AE 9: Apollo head right / calf's head right (BMC 7); and, Caria, Stratonikeia, c. 50 BC., AE 15: Hekate head right / Pegasus left (BMC 28 var.). Also four Hellenistic city bronzes from Phoenica, including Aradus, Carne, and Sidon; plus other city bronzes from Asia Minor, along with three Seleucid AE's, two with Medusa and Eros obverses. Rounding out lot, another 10 Roman Imperial bronzes (one Greek) of: Faustina Senior, Trajan Decius, Tetricus I, Maxentius, Maximianus, Constantine I, Honorius, and Maurice Tiberius. Coins with generally good surfaces, and various patinas. Worth a look -- some better items here. Lot of 34 coins. Coins average Very Fine, a few plus or minus.
