Ancient Greece. Lot of Seven AR Coins, Mostly Tetradrachms, c. 525-2 BC. A nice bargain lot. Included are: Athens, after 393 BC.: Athena head right / Owl (SNG Cop. 63); and a Tetradrachm of Alexander III, of Macedon, 336-323 BC., Amphipolis mint: Head of Herakles right / Zeus enthroned left. Also a Tetradrachm of Phraates IV, 38-2 BC.: Bearded and diademed bust left / Tyche offering palm to King (Shore 271 var.). Plus three Seleucid Tetradrachms: two of Antiochus I, 280-261 BC.: Diademed head right / Apollo seated left on omphalos (SNG Cop 56, 80); plus one of Antiochus III, 223-187 BC., and similar to previous. Finally, a Stater of Aegina, c. 500-480 BC.: Sea turtle / Skew pattern incuse (cf. SNG Delpierre 1519). All on generally good metal, with various tones -- the Athens darkly toned. Lot of 7 coins. Coins average Fine, the Athens Very Fine.
