Judea. Herodian Period. Agrippa I, 37-44 AD. AE 25 mm., struck 42/43 AD. Very rare. Laureate head of Claudius right. Reverse: Before tetrastyle temple togate figure at right faces other male figure at left, in tunic and cuirass(?), each holding patera, beneath kneeling figure; towards background, veiled female right holds object in hand; LZ in temple's pediment. Hendin 554 var.; AJC II, 249, 8 var.; SNG ANS Palestine --. Glossy, dark black-green patina with slight earthen highlights. Near Very Fine.
Estimated Value $400 - 600.
Listed as a distyle temple in Hendin and Meshorer, it is apparent in this specimen that the temple has four columns rather than two, which are not evident in the plate coins of Hendin and Meshorer's nos. 8 and 9.
