Phoenicia. Tyre, after 126 BC. AR Half Shekel-Didrachm (7.05 g), struck 79/78 BC. Pleasing, and less common. Laureate, skin-clad bust of Melkaart right. Reverse: Eagle standing left on prow, palm branch at shoulder, club and date in fields (Year 48); A and retrograde Σ at right. Cf. BMC p. 251, 227 (lacking the right hand letter combination). Boldly struck. On spread flan, but devices a little off-center. Residual luster. Near Extremely Fine.
