Thracian Islands. Thasos, after 148 BC. AR Tetradrachm (16.68 g). Head of youthful Dionysus right, hair wreathed in vines. Reverse: Herakles stands left, holding club and lionskin; inscription and ethnic around, monogram at left. SNG Cop. 1039-1041. Rather delicate portrait style; Herakles perhaps as attractive as he comes. Choice Very Fine.
