Sicily. Syracuse, c. 390 BC. Euainitos-style AR Dekadrachm (41.37 g). Post-Euainetos Issue. Charioteer, wearing long chiton, holding goad and reins, drives racing quadriga left; above, Nike flies right to crown charioteer; in exergue, a panoply of arms. Reverse: Head of Kore-Persephone to left, hair bound in a wreath of barley leaves, wearing bead necklace, and pendant earring; scallop shell behind neck, around, four dolphins, ethnic at upper right. Gallatin O.XI/R.F.II. Dewing 903-906; SNG ANS 372 (same obv. die). Obverse die state somewhat less worn, but with typical rust pattern.
